A chance for health. A chance for a loving home.
Who we are
Roger Vet is a veterinary practice with a social mission, established specifically to support animals rescued and cared for at the Suflete Dragi Association shelter. Our work is guided by a simple belief: essential veterinary care, prevention and spaying and neutering can change lives and reduce the suffering of abandoned animals.
Veterinary care for animals in need
At our practice, we provide essential veterinary services for shelter animals: vaccinations, parasite prevention and treatment, administration of medication, spaying and neutering, and basic surgical procedures. These services support the recovery of rescued animals, help maintain their health and prepare them for adoption.
Spaying and neutering – our investment in preventing abandonment
We aim to make a real difference in communities south of Bucharest, particularly in Ilfov, Giurgiu and Călărași counties, as well as other areas where access to veterinary services is limited. Depending on available campaigns and resources, we provide free or low-cost spaying and neutering for owned and unowned dogs and cats.
Spaying and neutering prevent unwanted litters, reduce the risk of abandonment and help decrease the number of animals forced to survive on the streets over the long term.
Working alongside the Suflete Dragi Association
Officially founded in 2013, the Suflete Dragi Association rescues and cares for abandoned animals at its shelter in the Vidra–Sintești area of Ilfov County. According to the association’s presentation, the shelter cares for approximately 450 dogs, 40 cats and 2 donkeys. Together with its partners, the association runs regular spay-and-neuter campaigns, sterilising more than 1,500 animals each year.
Our shared goal is not only to rescue animals but also to find them responsible, loving families. Through adoption partnerships in France and Belgium, the association reports having helped facilitate more than 5,000 international adoptions over the years.
Licensed international transport – the journey to a new life
Roger Vet also provides licensed international animal transport, primarily for dogs and cats adopted from the Suflete Dragi Association shelter and travelling to their new families in France and Belgium. Transport bridges the gap between rescue and the long-awaited moment of adoption: an animal meeting its family.
Activity records for October 2020 – October 2023 indicate that 1,439 animals were transported in total: 420 came from outside the Suflete Dragi Association (approximately 29%), while the remaining approximately 71% came from the association’s shelter.
Reported breakdown by destination: France received 776 animals from the Suflete Dragi shelter and 412 from other associations or private individuals; Belgium received 238 animals from the shelter and 8 from other sources.
Responsible adoptions – 2025 results
In 2025, the partnership between the Suflete Dragi Association and its French partner Celestia documented 267 direct adoptions from the shelter: 216 dogs and 51 cats. Another 14 animals (13 dogs and one cat) were adopted after spending time with foster families in France.
During the same year, 16 animals (14 dogs and 2 cats) were adopted again after returning to the adoption system. The partnership with Celestia therefore recorded 297 adoptions and re-adoptions in 2025, including direct adoptions, adoptions after foster care and re-adoptions. These results highlight the importance of veterinary preparation, licensed transport and continued support until animals settle into a family.
More than a veterinary practice and a transport service
Roger Vet stands for care for rescued animals, prevention within communities and a safe journey towards a new beginning. With every treatment, spay-and-neuter procedure and journey, we help create a world where fewer animals are abandoned and more find their way home.
